Forster bietet hier Einblick in das englische Leben zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts. Forsters Sprache ist angenehm und schön, melodisch und grazil. Trotzdem habe ich leider das Gefühl, dass mir die Geschichte an und für sich weniger bleiben wird, dafür blieben mir nämlich die einzelnen Figuren zu distanziert. Es ist eindeutig das Geschehen selbst, das im Mittelpunkt steht.
