"The Lion Women of Tehran" von Marjan Kamali ist ein Buch, das mich sehr berührt hat. Ellie und Homa lernen sich als 7jährige kennen und werden ein Leben lang trotz ihrer unterschiedlichen Ansichten miteinander verbunden sein. Ein folgenschwerer Verrat lässt den Kontakt für viele Jahre abbrechen. Anhand ihrer Geschichte erlebt man die tiefgreifenden Umwälzungen im Iran mit: Von der Regentschaft Reza Pahlavis über die Islamische Revolution bis hin zu den Protesten 2022. Dabei wird es durchaus politisch, denn es geht auch um Freiheit und Frauenrechte, dennoch steht die Freundschaft der beiden Frauen im Mittelpunkt. Ein Buch das aktueller nicht sein könnte, denn gerade gehen wieder viele Menschen im Iran auf die Straße.
Hat es mich zu Beginn sehr an "Meine geniale Freundin" aufgrund der Themen erinnert? Ja! Habe ich es im Verlauf sogar noch mehr geliebt als "The stationary Shop in Tehran"? Ja! War das letzte Kapitel vielleicht ein bisschen kitschig? Ja! Habe ich trotzdem währenddessen (und auch beim Lesen der "Author's note") geheult? Na klar!
