Hockey romance for everyone!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4,25/5) – The Kennedy Rule by K.C. Carmichael Rivals to lovers AND hockey? Yes, please. Honestly, what’s better out there than hockey? Right—books about hockey and gay men falling in love. So of course, I had fun with this one. The pacing is somewhere between medium and fast, the characters are loveable, and overall the story delivers. But. Oh boy, there are some things that made me go: “Wait… what?” First off, the characters. They were cute, yes, but depth? Not so much. It sometimes felt like we were skating on the surface (pun intended). And then there’s the Kennedy Jr./Kennedy Sr. thing… honestly, that relationship had me raising my eyebrows the entire time. If your dad is THAT controlling, THAT toxic, why are you still hanging around him? Why didn’t you distance yourself years ago?! Like, at some point you’ve got to cut the cord, buddy. And then Italy happened. Italy. I laughed, not because it was funny but because it was so unbelievable. Why, tell me, would Kennedy Sr.—an AMERICAN man—have any control whatsoever over the security of an Olympic city/game? Sir, you are not Zeus. You don’t own Italy. You don’t run the Olympics. Sit down. It was so beyond realistic that I had to roll with it just for the drama, because otherwise my brain was screaming, “This makes no sense!” All that said, I still had a blast reading. It’s rivals-to-lovers hockey romance—of course I rooted for the couple. The vibes were good, the tension worked, and despite the “wtf” moments, I kept turning the pages. So yeah, it’s not perfect, but if you love sports romances (and especially hockey), this is one you should definitely pick up. Just… don’t think too hard about Italy. Or the dad.
