Hier muss ich mal dem Blurb recht geben: der Roman von JG Ballard erinnert wirklich an Joseph Conrad. Es ist erstaunlich wie wenig Aktualität der Roman auch nach 60 Jahren noch hat. (Die Welt hat sich soweit erhitzt, dass ein Großteil der Welt unter Wasser steht. Sehr post apokalyptisch.) Es ist nicht immer ganz einfach zu lesen, aber ästhetisch und von der gebauten Welt her… ganz groß. Das war jetzt mein vierter Ballard. Ich freu mich sehr auf die anderen.

Und dabei viel auf die Psychologie der Beteiligten eingeht, für die eine Art Urtrance und Regression entsteht. Ist durch diese teilweise fast mythischen Passagen zwar nicht leicht zu lesen, sorgt aber für ein einzigartiges Leseerlebnis🤔
