omg that was fucking amazing. I shouldn’t be surprised anymore but damn. Gemma. Slayed. Ben. Slayed. I love them both so much. I cried and laughed and fell in love all together with them. The tension. The teasing. The banter. Top tier entertainment and emotions and everything. Elizabeth O‘Roark just knows how to do it. She delivers. Every. Single. Time. THIS IS THE BEST ONE IN THE SERIES YET. GO READ THIS BOOK. no, better read all three of them. This series - among the best romcoms out there…if not THE best. 5✨
The premise of the book seemed to good. We were promised a strong female lead, but we only got her in theory. While she is described as confident and cut throat we don't get to see her like that. We get a horny teenage girl with a law degree. She constantly thinks about sleeping with the MMC, who is her boss and that is already the second time she is making this same mistake. This would not pass the Bachdel test at all. This FMC is constantly horny and it is so annoying because in theory she is so driven that she should not easely lose focus just because her boss enters the office. For me that and her toxic behavior and the constant missunderstandings made her seem less like a real woman and more like a teenager. The end helped a little but not much. The writing was good and I am willing to give another book from this series a try because of it. However, this was disappointing especially because it was talked about feminism so much and yet the main character felt off.
