It was slow at the beginning, but loved the ending

I absolutely loved this! I can't believe that it's Devney's first novel - yes, her writing has improved in later books, but this is already so good! Georgia inherits a farmhouse in Prescott, a Montana small town, packs up her life and her little daughter to move there, and finds out that the caretaker of the house is no other than the town's smoking hot Sherriff, who treats her like an asshole. But she can't resist the attraction to Jess, despite him making decisions for her and wishing he could have inherited the house... can she trust his intentions? I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was actually romantic suspense, with much more than just a single-parent small town romance going on! Highly recommend!

You’re my girl because I want you to be my girl.” What the fuck did she mean she wasn’t strong enough? She was the strongest woman I’d ever met. 3.75* Finally read my first Devney Perry book and it's not like I'm disappointed, but it felt a little bit rushed at the beginning but it turns out good and I end up really liking them and the small town and the side characters and their relationship and their bond and the writing too!! Soo Georgia moves to this small town to a house a old man that she knew and she cared about deeply leaves for her and her daughter saying that they need a restart!! She starts working in the hospital of the town and in the first day she has a not so nice meeting with the town sheriff and they started by not liking each other and that's fine totally, i just didn't quite liked the way Jess with only one nice fun dinner tells her that for the rest of the town they are more than just friends and it was a little bit out of the blue, even though at first he didn't like her because he thought she was only after the old man's money (that Jess also knew and grow up with the man and loved him like a dad and the man treated Jess like a son too) but after reading a letter from him saying at the end for Jess to look after Georgia and Rowen, her daughter, he started to be nice but like I don't know it was fast but like I said, they had a good development and I guess he was just straight forward and not playing any games!! Georgia sometimes annoyed me the way she treated Jess sometimes like the man had children of his own and knew what the hell he was doing like no give the man a break, he's the sheriff, he is the one who takes care of everyone and he's not actually used to have someone to truly care for him the way Georgia was doing so some of their fights were because he always wanted to be there and to help and to do the things himself and protect Georgia and Rowen, so yeah Georgia sometimes went a little bit too far but I liked her, she was a single mom and she couldn't just let anyone into her life and her daughter's!! Then Jess also annoyed me sometimes with the alpha male possessive attitude he always had with Georgia but as i was reading I would see he never had someone to take care of him the way he takes care of the people in town and his mom!! So both of them had their flaws and they're human, they worked it out and they have a beautiful story and I really liked it!! The mystery in the book was also something I really liked it as well, it was really interesting and it got me hooked to the book!! Rowen too, she was just sooooo cute and her relationship with Jess was so funny and cute and soft god yes!! Thought Jess called them "his girls" a little bit too soon, I always thought it was so heartwarming everytime he did it, so sweet yess!! I'm excited for the other books, specially Maisy, Milo, Silas and Felicity! Can't wait and even though I didn't really loved this one, I had fun and I liked the characters and they have their flaws but that's human and they worked it out and were there for each other!! “You know, I want to take care of you too. If you’ll let me,” I said. “You do, Georgia. Every day. Creating a warm place for me to come to every night. Letting me unload after work. Pushing back when I’m an asshole. Arguing with me. Calling me ‘honey.’ Being my girl. All those things are what I need and how you take care of me. And if you’d get outta your head, stop doubting me, you’d see that I’ve been letting you take care of me all along.” “I love you. Everything. How you don’t back down during an argument. How you take care of Rowen. Take care of me. That you don’t mind including my mother. How you invite my sister over for Christmas minutes after she treats you badly. So let me buy you whatever the fuck I feel like for Christmas, birthdays or just whenever. Okay?”
