Für die erste Hälfte lohnte es sich.Tolle Urlaubs Camp Sommerfeelings.Horrorfilmvibes im Mörderwald. Tolle Freundesgruppe. Ja und dann 2,5std zog es sich,kurz spannend und dass Finale war bodenlos enttäuschend.Sehr knapp hingeschrieben und auch langweilig bezogen zum Rest gesehen. Ich bin total enttäuscht 😞
Ich mag solche Bücher immer unheimlich gerne! Und auf dieses hier habe ich mich schon gefreut. Der Anfang war sofort spannend und hat mich gecatcht. Die Spannung bleibt auch konstant da, im Mittelteil lässt diese kurz nach kommt dann aber wieder zurück. Das Setting und die Lösung an sich waren sehr cool und auch ausgetüftelt. An sich hat mich das Buch gut unterhalten und ich hatte viel Spaß beim Lesen, aber mich störte doch dieses „ja ich schätzt mal das war so und so .. Blabla“. Da hätten mir ein paar Seiten mehr Ermittlung doch gefallen, auch war mir die Protagonistin für ihrer Cleverness doch sehr jung. Aber es handelt sich hier um ein Buch für jugendliche Leser..Ich hab da wohl ein wenig zu komplexere Ansprüche, deswegen ist es unter diesem Aspekt auch vollkommen okay. Ich kann das Buch trotz kleiner Schwächen empfehlen :)
Anderes Setting und wieder toll!
Ich bin aktuell in einer Murdermystery-Phase und dieses Buch war perfekt für mich. Es handelt sich um Band 4 einer Reihe, die ich sehr mag. Die Protagonisten waren immer noch detailreich, einzigartig, leicht verschroben und äußerst liebenswert. Gut gefallen hat mir bei der Beschreibung der Figuren unter anderem die Art wie die Momente eingebaut wurden, in denen sich die Protagonistin in etwas reinsteigert und sich auch wieder daraus befreit. Das Setting hat sehr gut zum Spätsommer gepasst und wurde sehr detailliert beschrieben. Die Stimmung kam gut rüber und man konnte die Schwüle und die Mückenstiche förmlich spüren. Der Fall hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Mein Verdacht hat sich am Ende nicht bestätigt, aber die Überraschung hat mir viel besser gefallen. Es war alles logisch und hat mich abgeholt. Mehr möchte ich gar nicht sagen, um auf keinen Fall zu spoilern. Ich kann die Reihe wärmstens empfehlen und hole mir jetzt den fünften Band 😊

Es war eine solide und spannende Geschichte. Es war halt eben ein Jugend Buch , weshalb ich glaube dass ich deswegen so ein bisschen auf die extreme Spannung vergeblich gewartet habe.. Der Schreibstil ist toll mochte auch das es an manchen Stellen recht witzig war. Aber das Ende kam relativ schnell und auch wenn der Plot in Ordnung war wäre alles noch ein ticken ausbaufähiger gewesen. Empfehle es für zwischendurch auf jeden Fall weiter. War dennoch eine gute Geschichte

And here we are onto the next book in the truly devious series - although this one does not have anything to do with the truly devious case from the past three books. It simply features recurring characters from previous books. It all starts with Stevie and her friends arriving at a summer camp side, where four teenagers were killed one summer and no one really knows what really happened to them and why they were killed. A town full of people hiding secrets, a typical rowdy that apparently killed a young boy back then, about 7 months before he was murdered too, and just a tragedy after another the town has to live with. Sloppy police work that didn’t really do much to solve the case back then, is not making it easier for Stevie to find out what happened and why it happened. And on top of that a podcaster - the guy that now owns the camp, and called Stevie for help, is hated by the people in town and tried to mess with Stevie and her friends by faking certain stuff. Stevie has to stay cool in those hot summer read, or she won’t be able to solve those famous murders. I really liked this one, way more than the last one actually
Mich hat die Geschichte ganz gut unterhalten, sie war zwar nicht super spannend, aber trotzdem hatte sie was. Mir gefiel auch der Vibe des zweiten Handlungsstrangs aus den 70ern. Ich finde Stevie als Protagonistin sehr interessant. Das war mein erstes Buch aus der Reihe und ich werde mir bestimmt die anderen auch mal noch ansehen.
Really Nazis...? This book could have been great. It had a captivating story and David wasn’t in most of it. But the “big reveal” really ruined it. Nazi officer disguised as American war hero sees no other option to keep his cover from being blown except to murder 5 innocent teenagers.Really? Really? He couldn’t have just left town or paid Sabrina off or I don’t know never be involved at all because this conclusion sucked. I did not read all those pages, anxiously waiting for a conclusion only for it to be this. I wanted an actual motive not buhu my Highschool boyfriend made out with someone 41 years ago so I’m going to kill her sister. Honestly,I feel cheated out of an epic conclusion. Truly Devious was absolutely worth the three book wait because the end made sense.This didn’t. The only good thing that happened in the book was Nate getting inspiration to continue his book. Of course fictional true crime isn’t supposed to be realistic but it has to make sense. There were just too many unbelievable things in this story. 2.5/5 ✨
I cannot put into words how much I loved this book! I loved the Ellingham murder trilogy so much. The entire case was built up so carefully and beautifully in a span of three books that it's so legendary for me as a reader, and it feels like it really happened. But the ending was a bit of a let down. So I was a bit skeptical with this one because I didn't want the case to be so well built up only for it to not have the ending it deserves. I found the story bland in the beginning, but then it just took right off and me with it. OMG the tension until the very last reveal was very real! It was every bit as engaging as I wanted it to be. The story flowed seamlessly and everything fit so perfectly, it's uncanny. And the characters are so amazing and at this point I'd read anything with them in it. This woman is fucking fantabulous and she sure as hell knows how to write a murder mystery.
Eh that was not it, Mrs. Johnson… That final reveal was completely random and came out of nowhere, Stevie was just insufferable (why is she dating David, there is not an ounce of chemistry between those two) and the plot was simply not engaging. I‘m definitely let down by this instalment, let‘s see if there will be more books in this series.
