Aber Achtung: Wer auf schnelle Action aus ist, könnte beim ersten Drittel ein bisschen zappelig werden, der Anfang schlendert eher wie ein Elb im Morgentau. Doch wer Geduld hat, wird belohnt: mit einer Welt namens Talamh, voller Magie, alter Legenden und charismatischer Charaktere, die einem ans Herz wachsen (oder auf die Nerven gehen, je nach Laune 😄).
Die Sprache ist einfach, bildhaft, gut lesbar und typisch Roberts: Dialoge mit Biss, Landschaften mit Seele. Für Fantasy-Einsteiger*innen und Romance-Fans ein Fest. Hardcore-Fantasy-Veteranen könnten’s ein bisschen zu soft finden… aber hey, nicht jeder mag sein Schwert blutig und sein Plot ultrakomplex. 🗡️💕 Wenn du eine Mischung aus „Outlander trifft Herr der Ringe Light“ suchst, mit viel Gefühl und einer Prise Feenstaub, dann schnapp dir Der Gott des Waldes. Aber wehe, du suchst Game-of-Thrones-Level-Drama … dann wirst du hier eher durch einen Zauberwald der Sanftheit wandern 🌿😉 Ein Wohlfühl-Fantasy-Roman mit Herz und Magie. Nicht revolutionär, aber verdammt charmant.
Oh my gosh. This has to have been one of the worst books I've read in a while. To be fair, I thought this book was a fairly good bet. A renown author, the first few pages where strong. So I started to read. And read. I tried to keep my hopes up, but I only made it through about half the book. It's. So. Booooring. Absolutely nothing noteworthy happens after the teaser of the first few pages. No fantasy, nothing magical. Not even the slice of life that is there is good. Nope. It's just the main character with the most offensively stereotypical gay best friend going in a UK vacation. If I need to read another page of those two characters I'm gonna gorge my eyes out. It's so artificial. How is this a book by a bestselling author? Did someone exchanged my version of the book with a horrible alternative version? Why are people praising this? After reading the book I really do not understand the positive reviews. Safe yourself some precious hours and read something with proper pacing and interesting, deep characters. Because this book has neither.
