YES YES YES Oh God, the chemistry is just EVERYTHING . The Actor and His Secret is a romance between a book publisher and a film star with the tropes: forced proximity and forbidden love. (And the spice level 10/10 DAYUM) I had the opportunity to read it before it came out thanks to Ben because he gave away some copies to read! And damn, this book did not disappoint. It's beautifully written and the way Nikos calls Oli "Honey" AHHH????? I want what they have, for God's sake. I really can't say much without giving away the plot, so you better buy Ben's books.
Thank you to Ben Alderson and Laura R. Samotin for providing me with an ARC! This review reflects my honest opinion on this book. I already adored Ben's writing and after recently discovering Laura, I can only say that both their writing together is just supreme. It flows nicely, but they still have their distinct writing styles that set them apart. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. Nikos and Oli are everything, so prepare for an all-nighter once you pick this book up! Nikos, a movie star with a dislike for large crowds, and Oli, a bookworm in pursuit of a career in the publishing industry. One anonymous night spent together with no strings attached... or so they think. This is the story of two people come to care about each other and deal with their personal struggles and trauma. I don't want to take away too much of the story itself because I think it is best if you discover it yourself. But this much I can tell: Both characters have their own personalities and their own struggles. The pacing is just perfect, it switches between slow, tender moments and fact-paced action. The chemistry between the both of them is beautiful, the banter is breath-taking and the spice is delicious. It is definitely my top romance book of the year so far, and I can only recommend it!
