"Ein Sommer voller Schmetterlinge" klanger nach einer leichten und sommerlichen Geschichte auf die ich wirklich gespannt war. Leider konnte mich das Buch jedoch nicht überzeugen. Zunächst fand ich das Buch ganz interessant, denn wir lernen Beti kennen, die an einem englischen Flughafen arbeitet und davon träumt mit ihrem Verlobten eine Bar in Spanien zu eröffnen. Als sich die Chance auftut in Spanien eine Bar zu übernehmen, sitzt Beti jedoch sehr schnell alleine da und ihr Freund und ihr gesamtes Geld ist verschwunden. Beti war mir nicht komplett unsympathisch, aber so richtig warm bin ich nicht mit ihr geworden. Sie erschien mir sehr naiv für ihr Alter und ich fand ihr Verhalten stellenweise sehr anstrengend. Sämtliche andere Charaktere fand ich komplett unsympathisch. Die Handlung selbst nimmt gefühlt jedes Klischee mit und will von Bauernhof mit Kirschblüten zu Restraurant und Partybar einfach zu viel. Hier wäre weniger definitiv mehr gewesen und ich war von der Geschichte einfach nur enttäuscht, auch wenn ich keine tiefgründige Geschichte erwartet habe. Das Setting in Spanien beschreibt die Autorin wirklich schön und auch sonst ist das Buch relativ flüssig zu lesen, hier hat mich lediglich steigendes Desinteresse an der Geschichte ein wenig ausgebremst.
