In diesem Buch entsteht eine Freundschaft über einen Sommer zwischen Leo und Cedar. Als Ceda und ihr kleiner Bruder Miles in die Heimatstadt ihrer Mutter zusammen mit dieser ziehen, weil diese dort ein Haus gekauft hat, lernt sie über den Sommer, den sie nur dort verbringen, da sie sonst in der Großstadt leben, Leo kennen. Sie verstehen sich auf Anhieb, weil sie beide sehr wissberierig sind. Leo bringt Cedar vor allem die Welt des Theaters näher, die mit dem Summerlost-Festival in der Kleinstadt der Höhepunkt des Sommers ist. Zusammen arbeiten die beiden sogar zusammen und bieten Führungen durch die Dreh- und Angelpunkte der berühmtesten, verstorbenen Schauspielerin, die in der Kleinstadt gelebt hat, an, um sich etwas dazu zu verdienen. Am Ende ist es aber vor allem eine Geschichte, die über Trauma handelt, weil Cedar und ihre Familie eigentlich zu fünft waren und es nun nur noch ihre Mutter, Miles und sie gibt, weil ihr Vater und ihr anderer Bruder Ben bei einem Unfall verstorben sind. Deshalb ist dieses Buch auch weitaus intensiver als auf dem ersten Blick erwartet und für ein Kinderbuch definitiv nicht so leicht wie angenommen, doch so tiefgründig die Trauer ist, so aufheiternd kommt Heilung daher. Doch vor allem Theater- und Drama-Kids werden hier auf ihre Kosten kommen.
