Just when you thought doomsday was over . . .
Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.
As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn't always been on his brother's side. They've spent more centuries going at each other's throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he's willing to trade his life and future for Acheron's.
The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.
She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.
Yet it's hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

I'm really disappointed by this book. Not gonna hide the review, cause most points where already mentioned in previous posts or give a fair warning to people with triggers. A couple years ago, I stumbled over the Dark-Hunter series and I loved the writing style and funny and unique characters (Vane and Bride, Valerius and Tabitha…). So after a bit of a hiatus with reading in general, I figured “go back to the old favs, they served you well and build a good bookworm addiction”… First: The writing style is still amazing. I don’t know what it is about SK writing, but it flows. Its easy to read and keep reading, even if you don’t like what is written. So, thanks for getting me back in the flow of finishing a book in under two weeks, finally. Now to what was written: Acheron was already a hard book for me to swallow, so much pain and torture in such gruesome detail, the complete first half of that book was pain and suffering…. (I was so happy to get to the second half of that book, rereading I always stuck to the second half..) This book? Styxx? It was basically 80-90 % suffering and torture, graphic description of rape, torture, debasement, insults and people completely hating on the main character. The main point of the book seems: The hero suffers more than anyone else on earth ever has or will or can imagine, while no one can know or understand this suffering and therefore thinks him an arrogant jerk all the time. But he is still good and kind and basically a saint… The heroine of the book: Hard to say anything about her, that makes her unique or worth remembering. So disappointing, I loved SK funny, witty and strong unique female leads... Beth is a goddess with a tragic backstory, who is torn between her love and half her family or not so much. Most of the time I figured “boring and there to give the hero something to sleep with and feel loved by”. Her selling point: Not being an utter monster to the main hero Whoopwhoop! At about ¾ through the book I noticed something so strange. I kept waiting for something to happen and I couldn’t figure out the timeline. Interestingly enough, I got this book and its story completely mixed up with another story of SK. Remember Zarek and Astrid? The hero who seems like a deranged monster and the blind justice goddess. She, who finds out, the hero was completely misunderstood and terrible abused and suffers alone in his stoic self-existence, just wanting to be left alone? The heroine who finally gives him the love he craves and she is then his only saving grace kinda feeling? ….. yeah, basically exactly the same story just with lots and lots and lots more description of pain, suffering, torture, rape, hate, insults, family hate, and siblings not f*** talking to each other and only assuming everything… The life lesson at the end of the book was nice but was way better delivered in many of the previous books… This was so in your face. Like getting hit in the face with the life lesson repeatedly over and over again for hundreds of pages. The ending in general? Totally disappointed, illogical from my point of view. Happy lovey dovey family stuff, that comes out of nowhere. Even Artemis gets her nice grandma moment, unnecessary! Appolymi naturally reveals that she was not as heartless as people assumed her to be. Acheron finally figures out that he is as much an ass as everyone else… the hero finally gets his heroine and his family and everything is forgotten and forgiven…
