Mir fiel der Einstieg in Still Life with Tornado von A.S. King etwas schwer. Zwar war ich interessiert was zu Sarahs existentieller Krise geführt hat und weshalb sie plötzlich auf verschiedene Versionen von sich selbst trifft. Sie geht nicht mehr zur Schule und alles ist ihr zu unoriginell. Doch es dauert etwas bis man erfährt was sich dahinter alles verbirgt und so war es anfangs schwierig Sarahs Verhalten zu verstehen. Im Verlauf der Geschichte wird aber klar, dass Sarah einiges beschäftigt, Dinge die sie bisher verdrängt hat und denen sie sich nun jedoch stellen muss. Das Thema Misshandlung und häusliche Gewalt wird dabei sehr feinfühlig behandelt. Dabei zeigt die Autorin auch die verschiedenen Arten und Folgen von Misshandlung, nicht nur physisch sondern auch emotional. Auch die Kapitel aus der Sicht von Sarahs Mutter haben mir gut gefallen, da man so auch ihre Sichtweise viel besser verstehen kann. Sowieso hat mir gut gefallen, dass die Geschichte sich auf die familiären Beziehungen konzentriert und ohne Liebesgeschichte auskommt. Allerdings traten gewisse Ereignisse die Sarah in der Schule erlebt leider etwa sehr in den Hintergrund und so wurde schlussendlich auch nicht alles ganz befriedigend aufgelöst. Ingesamt sind es aber nur kleine Kritikpunkte denn die Geschichte hat mich sehr berührt und ich fand das Thema wurde wirklich gut dargestellt.
