I didn’t know I needed to read an f1 version of the mindf*ck series until now. This was unexpected but so good!! The writing and storytelling compared to the first book in the series improved significantly. I criticized in Hammer Time the lacking on-page development between the love interests. And my complains have been heard: this book showed the FMC Sasha slowly overcoming her fears to open up to someone and healing. João was just the absolute sweetest and most patient with her. And I’m kind of in love with both of them. This is what I want to read. I knew the author had it in her!! I loved reading about them. They were fun and adorable! And I’m a sucker for the f1 driver x journalist scenario! In addition to that, we also got amazing actual race content! You can feel, how much the author loves and consumes the sport, in the way she writes about it. It feels like your actually watching the races and (not that common for f1 romances) keeps the aspects about the sport realistic. And let us not forget about the revenge plot that was just amazing. It felt a lot like the mindf*ck series but I didn’t mind that at all, since it’s one of my all time favorites. The murder, the planning and plotting of revenge. Who knew you could combine my favorite things: stabby FMCs and formula 1. The only thing keeping me from giving five stars is, that the ending felt a bit too simple. I think everything worked out a bit too well… would have preferred to see them work a bit more for it. This book is for everyone that loves a good revenge murder plot and also enjoys sports romances: this one was written for us. 4.5
