Someday (Every Day)

First I gotta say, that I actually skipped the second book in this series, mostly cause after Every Day I really didn't feel like reading the same story again, especially cause when I was done with that I really didn't like Rhiannon and didn't care to know her story. So that part of the narrative is missing for me. Now that I read this one I might go back and read Another Day, but I'm not completely sure yet. Someday is quite different from Every Day. First of all, it has all these different perspectives and that's actually one of my favourite parts about it. There were so many outlooks on the situation and that made it a lot more nuanced. What really surprised but also impressed me was, how philosophical and deep this story got. The questions that were only brushed before were tackled again in a way more detailed way. I read my review for the first book again and remembered how I started out really liking the romance between A and Rhiannon, but ended up being mostly annoyed by it and actually very happy with the ending. This book really got me back into it. I enjoyed the romance again and I think the solution it led to was very good. I really liked the messages that were packed into this relationship. I also really liked where Nathans story line went and how he bonded with new characters and got his life back under control. Another part I really enjoyed was the antagonistic force of X. This being was truly terrifying, playing on all our deepest fears and the crescendo this plot line lead to kept me on the edge of my seat. Overall I would say that this is a very enjoyable, at times even thrilling book, that asks and answer many important question. I would say it's very different from the feeling of the first book, but I think it's a more than worthy end to this story.

I really enjoyed the glimpses into other “jumper’s” lives, especially Aemon’s story. But it was also interesting to meet so many other characters, see that A is mot alone and there are loads of good spirits not like X. I really hope we get a sequel or a book of short stories on other characters and how they manage their lives. One chapter I thought was particularly well-written was the (I assume because he was described as manic) bipolar guy Alvin. It wasn’t easy to read because the writing style pulled me in and I felt just like A, who couldn’t get their own thought in. I rushed through that chapter and felt Alvin’s energy as if I was the one having a manic episode. So far I’ve read books 1 and 3, now I’m really looking forward to reading Rhiannon’s perspective in Another Day and the prequel Six Earlier Days.
