This book was just too beautiful and painful at the same time. All the emotions I felt made me love the book even more. Mare is a new romance author who learned at a very young age what it was like to lose a parent. Through her loss, she got a little closer to her best friend's brother and developed feelings for him over time. However, she never thought he would reciprocate. Cade is thoughtful, hot, and the brother of Mare's best friend. Even at a young age, he has been attracted to Mare. However, he didn't want his feelings to be true or to stop Mare from fulfilling her dream of becoming an author. To fulfill her wish, he let her go and start a new life in a big city. Whether both went back to each other and see if it's true love or just something casual, both learn only with time.

This book was a sweet small town romance, that I think fans of Elsie Silver will really enjoy! You get immaculate cowboy small town vibes, with some best friends older brother and second chance romance thrown in for the angst and feelings. We follow the female lead Marigold, called Mare, on her way back to her home town. She’s a writer and finally coming back home after the death of her best friends mom. Inevitably, she also crosses paths with said best friends big brother again. Also known as the love of her live. The one that broke her heart. Whilst the male main character was a bit too much of a simp for my liking, I’m sure many readers will enjoy him! I just don’t have it in me to fall for the golden retriever boyfriends, so I’m not head over heels for him. Prepare for a big bucket of pining, friendship and longing. A good swoop of emotions and healing journeys. And a cup or two of spice. Perfect read for all my Elsie Silver cowboys and -girls and the second chance loving ones, that enjoy a bit of heartbreak whilst reading. 3
