And now Hendricks is determined to take the Council down, even if that means wading into the center of a terror plot whose perpetrators are not what they seem.

Als ich das Buch las, wusste ich nicht, dass dies der zweite Band um Auftragskiller Michael Hendricks ist. Obwohl ich im Nachhinein zugeben muss, dass mich der Klappentext sowas schon hätte vermuten lassen sollen. Aber trotz der Tatsache, dass ich den ersten Band nicht kenne, hat mich "Des Teufels Vollstrecker" gut unterhalten und ich hatte nie das Gefühl, dass mir irgendeine Information aus dem ersten Band fehlen würde, um das jetzige Geschehen zu verstehen. Ich schaue Thriller ja lieber als das ich sie lese, aber hier konnte ich mir alle Szenen sehr gut selbst bildlich vorstellen und es entwickelte sich während des Lesens ein Film in meinem Kopf. Personen werden zügig eingeführt und von den meisten erfährt man nur das Grundlegende über den Charakter. Bei den Gegnern und Nebencharakteren störte mich das nicht so. Allerdings störte mich das bei Michael Hendricks. Zum ihm konnte ich persönlich keine emotionale Bindung aufbaunen und dementsprechend hat es mich auch nicht so gefühlsmäßig eingenommen, wenn er in Schwierigkeiten geriet. Die Story verläuft rasant und folgt stetig dem roten Faden. Keine Nebengeschichten, was mir gefiel, und actionsreich aufgebaut. Dem Vergleich mit einem Hollywood Blockbuster würde ich zustimmen. Die Spannung flachte in der Mitte des Buch etwas ab, aber das Ende konnte mich wieder ganz einnehmen. Alles in allem ein Thriller, der mir schöne Lesestunden bereiten konnte.
