Now, as attacks batter them from within and without, the credulous are whispering about omens of death and destruction. Just old peasant legends about the gods waking to walk the earth. No modern educated man believes that sort of thing. But they should. . .

𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐰𝐮𝐫, Band 1 in den Powder Mage Chroniken, war so richtig nach meinem Geschmack. Das hatten ohnehin alle für mich prophezeiht und genauso kam es. Die Powder Mage Chroniken sind ja nun schon mehrere Jahre alt und ich bin ein bißchen spät dran. Für dieses Jahr steht das Universum aber ganz fest auf dem Plan und ich bin voller Erwartung, dass das gut sein wird. Mit Inhaltszusammenfassungen will ich mich zurückhalten, da das Buch doch sehr bekannt ist. Vor allem habe ich natürlich das Flintlocksetting sehr gemocht. Es gibt gar nicht genug Fantasybücher, die mal nicht mittelalterlich inspiriert sind, aber hier haben wir eine Welt, die napoleonisch anmutet und das fand ich klasse. Es ist eine Multi-POV - Geschichte, vor dem Hintergrund einer Revolution. Und zwei der Hauptprotagonisten sind Revolutionäre, die die Folgen des Umsturzes zu spüren bekommen. Allein schon die politischen Zusammenhänge waren hier für mich hoch spannend. Oben drauf kommt dann aber noch eine faszinierende Plotlinie rund um alte Götter und es erwarten uns gleich zwei bzw. fast schon drei Arten der Magie. Dass McClellan ein Schüler Sandersons ist, bleibt einem spätestens beim Thema Magie nicht verborgen. Am interessantesten war für mich jedoch ein Nebencharakter. Was habe ich Ka-Poel gefeiert. Stille Wasser sind tief, sagt man doch. Dieses Wasser war sehr tief.
