“What have I earned from you, Valek? Loyalty? Respect? Trust?” “You have my attention. But give me what I want, and you can have everything.”
I don't remember how I became aware of this book. This is already an older fantasy series. This can also be seen in the writing style and the type of world building. This was a bit too little elaborated for me but this can still be worked out in the following volumes? I found the story and the idea original and that's also what motivated me to read more. Because it had aroused a constant curiosity in me. At the same time, however, it was also too calm for me and too little tension. Some things I found illogical and the love story had too little space. I like Romantasy and I like it when characters are so well developed that you can imagine them. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. The characters had a great character and character development, but I couldn't imagine them figuratively. I especially liked that Yelena finds new friends, trains with them and gets better and better. *foundfamilytrope* I also liked Valek - a very interesting character. Unfortunately, tension only arose at 70% and that is definitely too late for me. All in all, I thought it was a good book. I liked it, but it didn't blow me away. The ending already makes me want to read volume 2, but I might as well not continue reading. I could imagine that the series is still gaining momentum, but I don't know if it's enough for me to continue reading the story.
