MEINUNG: Nachdem Keri Lake mit 'Anatema', bei mir voll ins Schwarze getroffen hat, wollte ich mehr 😋. Aber ich wollte etwas Abgeschlossenes lesen und daher hab ich mir 'Nightshade' ausgesucht. Ihr Schreibstil ist auch in diesem Werk wieder grandios. Wenn dich eine Autorin fühlen lässt, dann Keri Lake. 'Nightshade' war eine tolle Geschichte. Anfangs war ich verwirrt. Mein Fantasy-Gehirn wollte der Story wieder vorgreifen und seine Eigene basteln. Nur bei diesem Buch klappt das nicht. Ich war mir anfangs nicht einmal sicher, ob dies tatsächlich ein Fantasy-Roman ist. Hatte eher Krimi-Vibes 😅. Aber ich hielt durch und wurde nur noch mehr verwirrt. 🤣😉 Aber auf die gute Art und Weise. Die Lovestory ist Slow-Burn vom feinsten, obwohl der ein oder andere Fakt mich dann doch etwas abkühlte🫣. Eigentlich sollte dies ein 5🌟 Buch werden, aber es konnte mich nicht zu 100% überzeugen, aber ich kann es auch nicht erklären. Irgendetwas störte mich und bei ungefähr 75% stockte mein Lesefluss. Nur begreif ich selbst nicht, was es war. Trotzdem von mir eine klare Leseempfehlung. 🩵🩵 Bei mir wird es in Kürze mit Band 2 weitergehen. Keri Lake is ein Genie. Jedes ihrer Bücher ist bisher ein 5🌟 Buch & Nightshade ist da keine Ausnahme. Sie schafft es mit Leichtigkeit den Leser in ihre Parallelwelten voller Dämonen und Engel hineinzuziehen und lässt einen in dieser düsteren Welt erschaudern - man wird sofort und vollständig in ihren Bann gezogen. Jericho und Farryn sind ein Traum und der historische Bezug macht ihre Geschichte zu etwas ganz Besonderem. Die duale Zeitlinie hat mich in diesem Buch richtig begeistert, ist nicht verwirrend und gibt einem stückchenweise fehlende Puzzleteile für die Storyline. 🖤✨️

Auf Keri Lake ist definitiv Verlass, aber dennoch habe ich mich mit diesem Buch etwas schwer getan. Am Anfang gingen mir die “Flashbacks” auf die Nerven, ich wollte nicht wissen was Lustina passiert ist, ich wollte nur die Story von Farryn haben. Es hat bei diesem Teil tatsächlich ziemlich gedauert, bis ich mit allem warm geworden bin, aber irgendwann hat es mich in den Bann gezogen. Ich bin definitiv schon auf den zweiten Teil gespannt, würde aber auch sagen, dass Anathema und Nocticadia für mich persönlich die besseren Bücher waren.
Wer Anathema von Keri Lake geliebt hat, wird auch hier nicht enttäuscht. Der Plot ist super und vor allem anders als sonst. Die Liebe zwischen Jericho und Farryn ist alles andere als Romantisch und vor allem sie benötigt bis zum Schluss um ihre Liebe einzugestehen. Die Geschichte verzichtet komplett auf einen Cliffhanger für den zweiten Teil, aber man möchte trotzdem wissen, wie es weiter geht. Für alle die Englisch lesen: "Ran an den Speck!"
loved the premise! Forbidden love that spans over centuries, with angels and demons and all?! YES. But I just didn’t FEEL it. Unfortunately, it‘s clear from pretty early on what is happening and where everything is headed, but the characters only figure it out sssooo late that I completely lost interest. All in all, this book is way too long, and at the same time the ending is so rushed - The pacing felt just off. Unfortunately, just „meh“ overall.
I haven't had this much fun reading a book in a while! The first part was full of mysteries and riddles and I had no idea what was going on. I loved finding out how all the characters are connected. A lot happened at once in the end and one of m least favourite tropes sprang at me, that's why I'm taking half a star away.

HUGE SPOILER WARNING it was fine but i didn't like how they barely properly "reconnected" after getting their memories back. they still felt like strangers of some sort which also made the "owd" feel weird and unreal. i also didn't like her getting pregnant in the end and the whole principle of that being the only way to break the curse...
