Yes, it took me until the end of March to finish a CHRISTMAS book, but well… Not the book‘s fault though. I really enjoyed it. The world building was so creative and new, I was obsessed with the idea, before even starting to read the book. In the end I must admit I was very surprised by the amount of politics that‘s going on and how secondary the romance-plot felt in many parts of the book. Also: I expected some enemies-to-lovers, will-they-won‘t-they type of romance (red, white and royal blue vibes, you know?), with a lot of banter and the characters of halloween and christmas princes clashing- and got nothing like that. It‘s basically insta-love which reduced the tension i love so much to a minimum. BUT! I still love Coal and Hex and how their relationship developed. Just because I expected something else, doesn‘t mean I didn‘t enjoy them. Just a little heads up to everyone who wants to read this: this is not your typical lighthearted holiday romance.
