Lolita but worse.
Beautiful Flowery language over the most ghastly images imaginable. Sounds similar to Lolita? It is. But where Nabokovs Lolita has a lot to offer, this doesn’t. Too much time is spent with the shocking and not enough with an actual interesting reading experience. Where as Lolita is a great book with some shock factor attached this is just the shocking part with pittyful remnants of what could be considered a story. Atleast it’s over quickly. For the novelty of shock factor…sorry Marquis de Sade has you beat by a few hundred years. Everything written after 120 days of Sodom has to bring something more to the table to be regarded as interesting in my opinion. The prose is really nice. That’s about it. Go read Lolita instead.
