3,5 Sterne (= gut, solide, unterhaltsam, empfehlenswert), Re-Read. Janie, die sich in sozialen Situationen oft unwohl fühlt, erlebt einen höllischen Tag: Sie erwischt ihren Freund beim Fremdgehen und wird auch noch gefeuert. Glücklicherweise spricht der Security Mann Quinn sie an, vermittelt ihr direkt einen neuen Job und zeigt auch ansonsten knisterndes Interesse an ihr. Quinns Zuneigung wird schöööön deutlich, wenn er Janies unsicheres Gebrabbel liebenswert findet. Er ist allgemein so ein stiller, erstmal undurchschaubarer Protagonist, bei dem man gerne zwischen den Zeilen liest. Im Grunde ist es eine sweete & unterhaltsame Office Romance. Allerdings (aber da bin ich auch sehr pingelig): Es gibt ein Ungleichgewicht zwischen Janie und Quinn, zu seinen Gunsten. Er ist eigentlich kein Security Mann, sondern der Boss des kompletten Unternehmens Auch wenn er seine bessere Stellung nicht blöd ausnutzt, hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass es mehr thematisiert wird. Macht beim Lesen immer mal ein unangenehmes Gefühl. Außerdem hatte ich das Buch viel witziger in Erinnerung. Es ist ein gutes Buch und bleibt empfehlenswert, aber eben kein Highlight.
Penny Reid is a mastermind of contemporary romance, and that's a fact. Janie just got fired, she has just broken up with her boyfriend, making her homeless. Beggining anew, Janie finds herself meeting Quinn, who works the security in her old job's tower, getting a new job and living with her best friend. But things are not always what they seem. I love Janie, she's so unappologetically herself, with the wikipedia facts and the untimely comments. I think she and Quinn make the perfect balance, because he is so closed off and controled, Janie would be the only person free enough to make him see things he would never otherwise. I don't need to gush on this book too much, it's the 3rd time I'm reading it so it was time I reviewed it, the whole series is amazing, I don't think I've found a Penny Reid book that has disappointed me yet, You should totally start here!
