Ms. Marvel Vol. 1: No Normal (Ms. Marvel Series)

Zwei Dinge haben mich gestört: - Warum zum Teufel reden Teenager in Medien, die im amerikanischen Raum veröffentlich werden, nie mit ihren Eltern? Warum erzählt sie ihnen nicht von den Superkräften? (Und ganz nebenbei vielleicht auch der Polizei, damit sie Unterstützung hat, und sei es nur in Form von Hintergrundschnüffeleien.) - Wieso können Comics nie eine abgeschlossene Geschichte zeigen? Warum muss es immer eine Fortsetzungsgeschichte sein? Das ist so ziemlich der Grund, warum ich mit Comics selbst dann nicht warm werde, wenn sie so tolle Protagonisten haben, wie hier.

Yes, it follows sort of a regular superhero comic formula, but Kamala really pushes the comic from good to great! ❤❤❤ To Marvel for creating a Muslim female avenger and plus points for making her the child of 1st generation immigrants with all the added on baggage of that.

I really like it even though there wasn't that much happening I just loved Kamala and I could really relate to her and her problems. She is just a normal teenage girl that suddenly these powers and has to find out how to use them and how to be a hero...

So that was my first real graphic-novel since childhood. I don't really know how to rate it, because it's so different from all the books I have read. I liked the idea behind this. About wanting to be someone els, because she thinks she doesn't fit into society. Especially because of the big cultural differnces between her family and those other students in Jersey City. I think it fits a lot of current discussions. But this superhero-out-of-nowhere-thing makes no sense to me. Maybe the reasons for her transformation will be revealed later on the series, but right know it just leaves me confused.
