Description
The world of Mood Indigo is a stained-glass cartoon kind of a place, where the piano dispenses cocktails, the kitchen mice dance to the sound of sunbeams, and the air is three parts jazz. Colin is a wealthy young aristocrat with a big heart. The instant he sees Chloe, bass drums thump inside his shirt, and soon the two are married. Typically generous, Colin gives a quarter of his fortune to his best friend Chick so he can marry Chloe's friend Alyssum.
But a lily grows in Chloe's lung, and Colin must spend his remaining fortune on the only available treatment: surrounding her daily with fresh flowers. Chick squanders his share of Colin's money on rare books and it is not long before the friends are forced to sacrifice their carefree lives to soul-crushing work.

Review: „Mood Indigo“ by Boris Vian Genre: Literary Fiction, French Literature, Classic Paris, 1947 English translation Inhalt und Meinung ohne Spoiler Übrigens wird der gesamte Inhalt in der offiziellen Kurzbeschreibung / auf dem Klappentext gespoilert, denn die Story an sich ist simpel und schnell dargelegt. Colin verliebt sich in Chloe und sie heiraten. Er ist so vermögend, dass er sogar 1/3 seines Geldes seinem Freund Chuck schenkt, damit er ebenfalls heiraten kann. Während Colin‘s Frau schwer krank wird und das Geld plötzlich knapp wird, hat Chuck alles in seine Kaufsucht investiert. Es kommt zu einer Katastrophe! Ich habe das Buch seit 2021 bereits mehrfach abgebrochen gehabt und es ursprünglich auf einer dieser Listen im Internet gefunden (100 Bücher, die man gelesen haben muss, Rory Gimore‘s reading list etc.). Es fiel mir nach wie vor schwer, aber bin diesmal durchgekommen. Die Sprache ist extrem beschreibend und der Schreibstil etwas kompliziert (meine Meinung). Aber der Inhalt, die Idee und die unaufhaltsame Tragödie haben es für mich rausgeholt und ich bin froh nun etwas vom Autor gelesen zu haben. Habe keine deutsche Übersetzung finden können, glaube auf Deutsch wäre es besser für uns und könnte ich eher empfehlen. Rating 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
