Dieses Buch ist komplett anders als ich es erwartet hatte. Laut Klappentext soll es um Catherine Dior gehen, da "ihre Geschichte noch nie erzählt" wurde. Naja über Catherine erfährt man nur Bruchstücke, die vielleicht max 50 Seiten füllen würden! Dafür bekommt man viele Eindrücke über den 2. Weltkrieg und das Leben der Künstler/ Modeschöpfer zu dieser Zeit. Interessant aber auch ganz schön viel auf 400 Seiten
Miss Dior by Justine Picardie ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ich muss gestehen, von dem schönen Cover wurde ich angezogen und bei dem Titel habe ich an so eine andere Biografie gedacht - als es tatsächlich gab. Die Autorin ist für ihre Recherche an die Orte gereist, wo auch Catherine Dior deportiert wurde. Sehr eindrücklich schildert sie die Nazi Zeit und die Gräueltaten dahinter. Sie hat mit vielen Zeitzeugen gesprochen oder deren Berichte gelesen. Das ganz erfordert echt viel Kraft beim Lesen, auch weil persönliche Gedanken der Autorin hinzukommen. Ich habe eine leichte Geschichte über den Hintergrund vom Miss Dior Parfum erwartet - aber soviel anderes dafür bekommen. Es ist eine Reise durch das alte Frankreich, es werden auch diverse Personen beleuchtet, immer mal wieder geht es um Christian. Mir hat das Buch sehr gut gefallen, der Schreibstil ist so fesselnd. Ich musste Pausen dazwischen machen, um das geschriebene zu verarbeiten. Eine tiefgründige etwas andere Biografie (da es nicht ausschliesslich um Catherine Dior geht) aber sicher empfehlenswert und historisch Wertvoll. In fact, it cannot really be called a biography, since there’s barely anything known about Catherine, as she was a very private and discreet person. So instead of describing her life, we learn a lot about fashion in France during WW2. An intriguing topic, as French fashion managed to remain intact while the world was in a state of chaos. We also learn a lot about the Nazi regime and the concentration camps (where Catherine was also in). A lot of information and knowledge is conveyed. At the end of the book one can clearly say that Catherine was a strong woman who actively worked against the Nazis and thus almost risked her life!
