This is a collection into one volume of several smaller books by the same publisher - the little square black-and-white books you often see in gift shops at heritage sites in the UK. The series is known for the exceptional quality of its illustrations, which take up at least half of each two-page spread, and this is no exception. The diagrams and drawings of the various stone alignments and rock art sites are among the best I have seen, and the explanations of the astronomical alignments are very clear and fascinating. The detailed explanations of sacred geometry sometimes go over my head, but as geometry has never been a strong suit of mine, I can't say whether this is due to overinterpretation by the sources or a mental block on my part... The internal cross-references have not always been updated to reflect the new page-numbering in the collection, but this is a minor annoyance. Overall, this is a very readable book which I expect to refer to often.
