Lair of Dreams: A Diviners Novel

Second read - 3,25 stars I stand by what I said when I finished this book the first time around, but what I noticed when I reread this book this time is that this novel is only character-driven, and there is little to no plot up until the last 100 pages. The book is simply too long for that. I LOVE character-driven stories, but only if there is a sufficient plot as well. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love these characters and I love reading about them, but there was no red thread and also no goal we had in this book, which made it difficult for me to keep reading. Nevertheless, the last few pages were super interesting, so I will definitely be finishing this series this year! Also: The audiobook narrator does an AMAZING job!! Highly recommend. First read 4,5/5 stars I feel like this is exactly how diversity should be done. It is woven into the story seamlessly, while also focussing on the hardships and problems these characters have to go through in a very real and honest manner. Many authors could learn from how Libba Bray does it. I liked this one even more than the first installment in the series, and I am excited to be continuing with it!

i don’t want to give this book 3 stars because it’s so sO SO GOOD. but i kinda have to do it - i didn’t enjoy this at all when i started reading it. however, the second part of the book is amazing af. it’s so intense and sad and beautiful!!! the characters are my babies and i want to protect them from all the bad in the world. my heart is happy for henry because he gets to be one of the main characters in this one (it’s what he deserves). AND we have a new chinese main character who’s my precious cinnamon roll. i just love her so much, i hope to see more of her in the third book. also my otp should date!!! libba bray, you better not disappoint me - i’ve been waiting for these fools to get together since the moment they met.

TRIGGERWARNUNG: Sexuelle Nötigung / Rape This book was as great as the first one. I like that there is such a diversed cast. It was amazing how all the different story’s came together and watching the diviner’s waking up one by one. This is one thrilling, haunting, beautiful story.
