The book absolutely held what it promised. A fun and witty read with a lovely FMC and a MMC who is such book boyfriend material. The author found the middle between letting you forget about Frankies disability and reminding you of it without punching it in your face. Also the way that Jay was dealing with it, was very authentic with him saying ableist things because he didn't know any better but with a huge will to learn. I'd no particulary recommend it for unexperienced readers of english boom since it contains unbeknown slang.
I really tried but it wasn’t it for me. Guess this book was „knot my type“ hahah. funny. Not. It was a sweet romance and great representation and the concept was intriguing but I felt no chemistry between Frankie and Jay. Their dialogs and actions made me cringe more often than anything else really. It all happens so fast and then there was no real action and even the great ending felt bland for me. They met. They knew they wanted each other. They wanted to try to be friends. But suddenly they dated and then it was almost the end and they married? And the whole beginning of the relationship until the point they are together happened in the cause of what felt like a week. And then we suddenly got a 3 month later chapter and we headed straight to the end of the book. Where was the development? Of any kind? At least some? The whole thing that caused this relationship- the Poddie nomination- didn’t even play a role in the end. We know she won five because it was casually mentioned in the last chapter. It was a good book and written in a way where you can easily devour it fast. But the relationship lacked at for me important aspects like building up attraction and tension and chemistry. It was too fast and too much of nothingness for my taste. But still a book worth reading for people who look for a sweet easy insta-Love read with not too much content and just want to have a good time. …And who have a high cringe tolerance. I just want to say - Public Grand Gesture. *~* 3
A nice inclusive romance 🫶🏻As a fellow chronic illness survivor (no, I do not like the term "warrior") and disabled woman this just felt good. Her disability was never the issue of the story. It was just as much a part of her in the story as her doctor's degree. It's refreshing after seeing all these movies and books about this "poor disabled woman/guy" struggling with everything and then finding the only good thing in their lives in the form of a love interest. Definitely a recommendation for anyone looking for a feel-good, spicy(!!), inclusive romance! ^^
