Description

Meet Louis, the straightest student to ever fall in love with the new boy at school.
If you ask me, I’m a rock star.
Just the right amount of awesome, cute, and only slightly delusional. I attend the best high school, in Paris no less, I’ve got the coolest best friend, the fiercest girlfriend, and more importantly, I’m absolutely, a hundred per cent straight.
So no, Michael, the new British student, with his dark curls and sweet smiles, doesn’t interest me whatsoever.
I’m too busy anyway. I don’t have the time, or the need, to think about him at all. Not his hair, his British accent, or the way he makes me feel at times, when I’m alone and everything morphs into his handsome face…
Did I mention everything’s perfectly fine?
This is not the year I’m going to lose control, and possibly everything that matters to me, just because of one disorienting, unnerving, life-shattering English guy.
In this coming of age love story, Louis, a snarky student at an International High School in Paris will struggle to admit the truth to himself and his loved ones as he wrestles with his sexuality.
Will he find the courage to accept who is he before it's too late?

I Want To Kiss You In Public is a story about love, friendship, truth and heartbreak, packed with funny dialogue, and comes with its own Spotify Rock Playlist. It contains soft drugs and alcohol consumption as well as cursing.

Rom-Com(ing out)

Positively surprised with this one. Definitely a love story, but also really focused on the main character coming to terms with his sexuality, and general drama while also having funny and interesting dialog (or monolog, like his thoughts). The story takes place at a bilingual school in Paris, the Colette, where also the other books in this series are set (as far as I know they are stand-alones otherwise). Louis, the main character, is convinced to be straight, having a beautiful girlfriend, and living his life with the rockstar attitude he adopted from his best friend. All that begins to crumble when a new student from London (Michael) shows up at school. Louis finally has to face some truths about himself. It takes a bit until the romance storyline really sets off, and the drama at the end was a bit stressful and cliché at one point, but that's all the complaints I have, and I didn't mind much. I really liked the book overall. Louis thoughts and anxiety were relatable, and even though some misunderstandings were annoying, they made sense. I also really liked the handling of the side characters when there was a lot of conflict. Often in books, there is a clear "wrong side," and once you know which one the author presents as that one, those people are irredeemably the bad ones. Here, there were issues where I was clearly on one side, but, especially later, you could also see the other side, and it wasn't all black and white. The last page in the book also put a good end to it. So yeah, pretty good book. I liked the couple and the conflict, and it was also written in a really funny tone sometimes. Had to grin a lot 😁 Maybe I'll read the other books in this series as well.
