Intereresantes Retelling von Camilla von Sheridan Le Fanu

Carmilla Retelling.

a dark feminist highlight

Feminist horror has become one of my new favorite genres, and Hunger Stone is a standout. A dark, modern reimagining of Carmilla, full of quiet rage, sensuality, and haunting atmosphere. We follow Lenore, trapped in an arranged marriage with a wealthy steel magnate. Her title brings him status; his money gives her survival. She moves through life muted - useful, present, but invisible. Her body is a site of control, silence, and pain. Until Carmilla enters the story. Mysterious, sharp, otherworldly - Carmilla disrupts everything. What awakens in Lenore is more than desire; it's the return of agency, of hunger, of choice. And what I loved most? No one saves her. She begins saving herself. The author's writing is rich, immersive, and intense. This book isn't just a gothic retelling — it's about power, womanhood, societal roles, and what happens when women reclaim their bodies and their wants. A slow, deep, unforgettable read.
