I’ve never really watched the movie The Grinch. I’m not even sure why. My boyfriend loves that movie; but my mother doesn’t so this might be the reason why. As a child we never watched it but as I was looking for some christmassy books to read this year I came across the actutal book How the Grinch stole Christmas! and fell in love with the book cover right away. Even though it’s a childrens book I had to get it and fell in love with it as soon as I’ve read the first page. It’s such a wonderful chilren’s book. The Grinch is not really the kind of person you’d really want to spend time with, even Christmas with. But as the story continues he learns that there is much more to Christmas than just packages, bows, ribbons and not to mention feasts. It’s so cute and nice to watch The Grinch disocver that Christmas is so much more than all the things mentioned above. I loved the book and had so much fun reading it that I’ve reread it right away as soon as I finished it the first time. Definitely a book I promised myself to read every Christmas from now on.
The Grinch is lowkey my favourite pop culture icon at this time of year and I am even more delighted with the fact that the book’s “and that’s how he came to like Christmas after all” part is much smaller and less kitsch than it was in the movie - the more grouching the better, because RELATABLE BABES!!
Growing older, I always wanted to have a Dr Seuss book of my own. Even though I know a lot of people who hate The Grinch movies, I simply love it. And the illustrations in this edition are just gorgeous. It's a lovely short read for the Christmas season, and will definitely always be one of my favourite Dr Seuss' books.
