If you enjoy reading contemporary romances this review might not be for you. As someone who sporadically pics up a romance novel I did like this one enough to rate it 4 stars but the romance aspect was the weakest part for me. 🫣 I liked Winters writing style and I can see myself picking up another book of hers. This is the first Lee Winter book I‘ve read and I think I went in with expectations that were too high as I‘ve heard a lot of praise about twisty plottwists, icy ice queens and loveable characters. Honestly… I did not like either of the main characters. To me Amelia did not give ice queen vibes at all. She shows her soft side pretty fast and although it’s mentionned a few times how cold hearted she is it did not feel like that. And miss „I don‘t do relationships“ started doing relationships very very fast. Like they‘ve known each other 5 days 🫣 and were never that close… I just thought it was funny how one of them was like „she would never betray me“ but has interacted with her for like a full 10 hours up until then. The plot was okay. Not something I‘d read again but as mentionned I liked the writing and the plot twists were okay. Not shocking but also not predictable.

I was scared I wouldn't enjoy it but I ended up really liking it. I did really like Amelia. Quinn and Milly were also really likeable side characters. Sadly I wasn't the biggest fan of Kai, so I wasn't that invested in their love story. Amelia and (especially) Kai didn't behave like women in their 40s. They reminded me more of teenagers, when they had arguments. The plot was really interesting and I enjoyed it, but I kinda guessed most of it rather early on. I was more invested in the plot than the love story, which is rare for me. I still love Lee Winters writing.
