StClare & Perry

Ich muss ehrlich sagen ich habe noch nie bei einem Hörbuch so viel gelacht wie bei diesem. Ich war so oft froh dass ich allein spazieren war und niemand mich hören konnte. Perry ist einfach the Godfather of oblivion. Wirklich der Typ ist der Hammer. Der Trope Idiots to lovers passt hier echt 1000% und macht das ganze einfach so unfassbar gut. Perry ist echt ein Herzchen.

Okay, wow! This is definitely not your typical Saxon James book overall (first of all it's more than 400 pages), but in some ways it is in how it's still somehow lighthearted beneath all the dark and tense moments - and her usual humour really is amplified and I don't know how she does that (because her books ALWAYS make me laugh, but this one was intense😂 I don't know how many sentences I highlighted because I almost spat my water on my Kindle). Himbo Hitman is about the meet-shoot (haha, I already laughed at every single teaser Saxon uploaded on social media) between aspiring hitman Perry and St. Clare. Perry only manages to shoot St. Clare's ear, apologises for missing his head  and makes him pinky-swear to go into hiding, so he doesn't need to kill him. And this is how this suspenseful, part time tense and full time HILARIOUS story begins. It's great banter and a super unhinged but so, so lovable main character (everyone who loved Brad Bradley by Emmy Sanders and is open to Romantic Suspense will adore this book, they really give off the same vibe, but Perry has a gun), and while I thought the story could potentially mess with the realism of the rest of the Sadenverse, it really works. And I do wish for a series about the baddie bunch. There's a nonbinary side character whose existence made me super happy (they're not the first in the Sadenverse either, but probably the one with the most screen time), the spice is HEAVY for a Saxon book, but super hot (even tho the spicy scenes were a tad too long for me, but that's definitely a personal issue), and the suspense part is written really well. So Saxon has definitely proved she can keep up with Eden's Mike Bravo OPs series (loved the reference to Saint btw) in the Sadenverse! Also there's not only one strong female side character and we love to see that in MM romance!!

This was genuinely something different, which I really appreciated! Perry is very much a Forrest Gump type-he's incredibly naive but just wants to try and do his absolute best. St. Claire is also cute, and generally, I like all the characters. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't love it more... I think it's because the plot is so action-heavy and serious, but the characters behave a bit childishly. That's clearly the charm of the book, but somehow, it just didn't fully catch me
