The book started off really strong. The beginning pulled me in immediately, and I especially liked the setting because I've never read a thriller about caving before. The middle, though, just dragged. There are some good twists in between, but it still felt like it went on for too long and lost a lot of the momentum from the start. I also really didn’t like the pregnancy subplot. It felt unnecessary and honestly just annoying. First Allie wants to abort the baby, then after everything that happens she suddenly decides to keep it? That didn’t feel convincing at all. And the whole "sesame seed" thing, plus her talking to it… yeah, that just wasn’t for me. The twist with Tess being the one who wanted to kill Allie was good in theory, but not that surprising. There were moments where it felt obvious, especially because she somehow knew things she couldn’t have known inside the cave. Same with Ethan. Him surviving is was mentioned pretty early, so that didn’t really land as a big reveal either. Overall, a strong start and a really unique setting, but the pacing and some plot choices made it a bit boring.
