Like the first book, this is a pretty fast read. I liked the dynamic of Violet and Gavin. It‘s cliché in a good kind of way if you like this kind of story. There‘s even a scene of when he takes care of her when she‘s ill – which couldn‘t have been more rom com cliché if they tried. Violet is also a very relatable character with character traits and interests that made her stand out to me even more so than Daisy, but not in a ‘not like other girls‘ kind of way – instead there‘s a lot of insight in her insecurities and why she has these strong opinions. I liked Gavin more than I thought I would, but he doesn’t hold a candle to Jordan. What bothered me is the cheating storyline and how it was handled. I don‘t think it‘s handled in a problematic way (not necessarily at least), but in the end it reminded me a little bit of ’Spring Semester‘ by Q.B. Tyler, a book I disliked, maybe hated a little bit, and this part of the story doesn‘t sit right with me and is predictable in my opinion. This is also tagged along until I think the last chapter? Why? 3/5⭐️ 2/5🌶️
Weiter geht's an der Valley U und wir erfahren mehr über Violet und Gavin. Man hat ja schon im ersten Teil ein wenig von den beiden mitbekommen und warum Violet so ein Problem mit Sportlern hat. Nachdem, was sie erlebt hat, kann ich ihre Abneigung doch etwas verstehen. Man merkt bei ihr, wie sehr sie Mode mag und wie sie darin aufgeht neue Kleider zu entwerfen. Der Zusammenhalt zwischen den Mädels in der WG ist wirklich etwas besonderes und es ist schön zu sehen, wie sie zusammen halten. Gavin liebt Basketball und spielt auch sehr gut. Er hasst es nur immer wieder mit seinem Vater verglichen zu werden, was nachvollziehbar ist. Es ist spannend zu sehen, wie Violet und Gavin trotz allem aufeinander reagieren. Ich fand es gut, wie er sich um sie gekümmert hat und für sie da war. Vor allem, weil sie dadurch wieder Vertrauen fassen konnte, auch wenn sie vorsichtig ist. Man merkt einfach, dass es zwischen ihnen noch einiges zu klären gibt, aber die Gefühle nicht verschwunden sind. Schlimm finde ich, dass manche einfach kein nein akzeptieren konnten und dadurch unschöne Momente enstanden ist. Es gab definitiv den ein anderen "ich wusste es!"-Moment, der vieles verändert hätte, wenn es nicht so gewesen wäre. Aber dann hätten wir wahrscheinlich nicht diese Geschichte gehabt. Es zeigt sich, dass man immer an seinen Träumen festhalten soll. Aber auch, dass nichts in Stein gemeißelt ist und man Änderungen machen kann. Ich freue mich schon jetzt auf die Rückkehr an die Valley U und zu sehen, wie es weiter geht.
