About the book

If he’s death, I crave oblivion.
I'm a witch, cursed to kill with a brush of my fingertips. My worst fear is hurting the boy I care for—and my second-worst is the attention of the Order's witch hunters. Maelor is their dangerous, beautiful leader. And now, he seems like he knows my secrets.

When he arrests me, my only hope is to survive a series of brutal trials. Ninety-nine out of a hundred will die, and magic is strictly forbidden. Strangely, Maelor is immune to my touch. He claims to want to help me. But as I spend more time with him, I discover he has a dark secret of his own. Is he the reason bodies have been showing up around the kingdom, drained of blood?

The more he wants me, the more dangerous he becomes. In a world where trusting someone can get you killed, will this beautiful monster help me survive?

Hallowed Games is the first book in a new series of fantasy romance, morally-grey characters, and deadly trials: perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and Serpent and the Wings of Night.

I really like this book. Is it actually a 5-star-read? Maybe not, but I also couldn't find anything out of line or any plot holes. It kept me engaged, the world building and concept of a story were great. Even though it ended up leaning in a direction I didn't expect it to. The characters motives and actions were always plausible. Even the side characters had their well deserved moments. Great book! Minor spoiler alert: It's very much giving the vampire diaries by the end.

    Actually really good

To be honest I didn't even think I would write a review for this book. I just downloaded it on stuff your Kindle Day to read on the way to work. This book really surprised me, in a good way. I didn't anticipate for it to be well written and the fantasy to be actually interesting and kind of witty. The tension between the ML and the FL was also done pretty well. So overall the plot, world building and the "spice" did surprise me positively. I will definitely read the second book!
