I'm giving this book 3 stars, because I liked it overall but I won't be reading the next books now. I'll wait for the series to be over and come back to it. Because I'm not ready the heartache and clusterfuck this series in going to be, I need it to be completed. I love Reverse Harem like this. I like the premise, Z is thrown into the competition for assassins to become assassin of the realms and along the lines she finds her 7 mates, who happen to be the 7 princes of the 7 realms. A lot didn't make sense to me though... why does Z need to kill the princes? It's not explained. Why does all 7 realm need one single assassin? Wouldn't each realm want their own? What happens if the assassin in busy in the Vampire realm when Shirter king needs someone killed? They wait? It doesn't make sense. Why does the matching happen during the damning? How is the damning over so quick? It's takes a few days for everyone to get killed, which is fine, but why do they say it's going to last 2 months? How does the mate bond and reproduction work exactly? Cause the mate bond really isn't explained and like babies, can any nightmare have children with any other nightmare? And what is the child going to be? And humans are considered less-than by nightmares but nobody treats Z differently? Is she a nightmare cause it owuldn't make sense... I get the whole leg thing with Dair, but it came too soon in the story imo, like it happened out of nowhere, with no further introduction to Dair's family, and I get we're probably getting that in the next book but why throw this here is it's to explain it in another book? Also, humans hate nightmares becasue nightmares hates humans, I get that. But Z tried so hard to make us believe she hates nightmares when her 2 bffs are nightmares themselves and the only nightmares she had a bad reaction to are shifters. She didn't care about the others. Also I wish the geography of the world was more explained... Appart from that, I like the world building, the supernatural creatures based on Seven deadly sins. I like Z, she was badass but I don't feel like we get to know her a lot. I don't feel like we get to know anyone a lot, it's all pretty glossed over and I guess there are going to be 7 books so the author has time but still...
