Description

Bold, brutal, and beautiful, this must-read fantasy is full of fierce sisterhood, action, and political intrigue for fans of The Selection series, Caraval, and The Handmaid's Tale.

Serina Tessaro has been groomed her whole life to become a Grace—someone to stand by the heir to the throne as a shining, subjugated example of the perfect woman. It's her chance to secure a better life for her family, and to keep her headstrong and rebellious younger sister, Nomi, out of trouble. But when Nomi catches the Heir's eye instead, Serina is the one who takes the fall for the dangerous secret her sister has been hiding.

Trapped in a life she never wanted, Nomi has only one option: surrender to her role as a Grace until she can use her position to save Serina. But this is easier said than done...a traitor walks the halls of the palazzo, and deception lurks in every corner. Meanwhile, Serina is running out of time. Imprisoned on an island where she must fight to the death to survive, surrounded by women stronger than she is, one wrong move could cost her everything. There is no room for weakness on Mount Ruin, especially weaknesses of the heart.

Thrilling and captivating, Grace and Fury is a story of fierce sisterhood, and survival in a world that's determined to break you.

An addictive read about family, sisters and strong female characters that want to fight for their rights in a world where all of their rights have been taken away. I loved the plot twist at the end and can't wait for book #2!

This book sets up a world, where women have little choice in how their life turns out. Serina thinks she can give her sister, who is her handmaiden, and herself a comfortable life by becoming the Heirs Grace. Nomi doesn't believe in this. She doesn't believe succumbing to the Heir will give them freedom, she sees it as mother cage. But then something happens and everything is turned upside down. Nomi is chosen as a Grace and Serina is send to the dangerous Mount Ruin, a prison for women who defy this worlds strict rules. First of all I loved this characters. Serina goes through such an enormous journey in this book and I loved seeing her unfold and embrace her fury. I heard people say this would be a feminist read and it truly was. At its core, it's about women fighting their oppression in any way that they can. Women standing up to the men that are trying to keep them down. I loved every second of it. I loved seeing women making each other stronger instead of tearing one another down. Other than that, I was seriously into the romance. It's very rare to see romantic relationships in Ya that revolve around mutual respect, where the men don't always need to take care of the women and also understand they don't have to. Usually they will still be the golden saviour, even it the woman is very capable herself. This book did it. It gave me romance to be excited about, romance I could dive into. Men, who respected the women choices and helped them. There is one instance that could be interpreted in a bit of a different light, but there is no man who ever just took what he wanted from a struggling woman. There actually were some attacks on one of the sisters, but it never got far enough to really trigger me. I don't wanna reveal too much about the plot, but it had so many twists and turns and legit managed to fool him. Which actually got me very angry, I don't like fall into traps, I usually think I'm too clever for that, but this really got me. I wanted to put the rating down cause I was so annoyed it got me, but I really can't do that. It was a good twist and I'm excited to see, where this series goes in the future.
