Description
My life is a carefully constructed lie. I’m in love with my best friend, but the way I feel could get us both killed. So as long as we stay here on the dusty ranch, I can never tell him how I feel. And if we leave, we’ll have nothing but the shirts on our backs.
But when Josh is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, fate forces my hand. I steal him away, where it’s just the two of us against the world. I will do anything to keep him safe. I’ll steal. I’ll fight. I’ll tell lies.
Yet I can’t tell Josh how I feel.
I can’t tell him that this is all my fault.
And kissing him in the back of a stranger’s truck wasn’t exactly part of the plan…
Contains: first times, impossible choices, awkward confessions and love up against the kitchen counter.

Well, I have kinda conflicting feelings for this book. I generally really liked it, especially in the beginning and middle, but that one fight towards the end made me so ANGRY, omg. Almost ruined it for me. Afterwards, it was just fine, idk. Still a good book. I also think this is one of these books that give off a very different vibe from the cover and blurb than what they actually are. I don't like how vague the plot sounds on the back, when it's actually this: Caleb and Josh grow up in a religious polygamist group and run away together. Also important; they liked each other forever, and it doesn't take them long to confess. There is also a lot about family and (other people's) babies (which isn't a topic I'm keen on). While there are quite a few spicy scenes, it's not like the general vibe. I did like the (found) family plot and the plot about the cult, and their love was quick and easy... but the drama at the end was NOT it. Not even the thing itself, but how one of the characters went about it was just yikes 😬 And then there was the typical happy ending, which was fine. Well, it was also a bit of a shorter book, so the characters could have had a bit more depth. It was still a fine read I enjoyed, and since I already have volume 2 (about a different couple), I'll read that too.
