Und was mich hier sehr bedrückt hat, ist, dass anders und auch queer sein in den Augen von einigen Personen so "schlimm" ist. 💕Die Liebesgeschichte zwischen Valerie und Riley fand ich echt süß und auch eine echt gut umgesetzte forbidden love story 🖋Der Schreibstil hat mir echt gut gefallen und mich hat positiv überrascht, dass die Autory das Hörbuch selbst eingesprochen hat und mochte das sehr gerne. 🏁Die Geschichte fand ich sehr bewegend und besonders. Vor allem dieses Hin und Hergerissen sein wurde sehr gut dargestellt und auch die langsame Erkenntnis, dass es etwas außerhalb dessen gibt, was Valerie ihr ganzes Leben bisher erlebt hat. Gegen Ende hin gab es eine Person die mich auch sehr positiv überrascht hat und fand die Entwicklung echt richtig gut. ✨️Das Setting war mal etwas komplett anderes, was ich so noch nicht gelesen habe, aber mich dennoch faszinieren konnte. 🎉Insgesamt hat mir das Buch echt gut gefallen, aber hier und da haben mich ein paar Kleinigkeiten gestört. Und werde auf jeden Fall nach anderen Büchern von Natalie Naudus Ausschau halten
This was such a wonderful story about a girl finding herself while being surrounded by people -the cult she unknowingly was a part of- who continually beat her down whenever she shows a hint of rebellion. With beautiful prose the author tells the story about Valerie who merely wants to be herself and be with the girl she loves all the while pretending to be the obidient daughter. I rooted for her when she started to sneak queer books from the library into her closet in order to hide them from her parents and almost cried when she found people to support her. It really does only take one person who believes in you that can change your whole live and I truly wish Riley and Valerie all the best.
