INSTANT USA TODAY BESTSELLER

“Witty and macabre.”—Caroline Kepnes

"Slick and chilling."—Megan Miranda

“I read all of her [books]. I've read everything.”—Cecily Strong from SNL for Vanity Fair

“A perfect summer book.”—NPR

USA Today bestselling author Samantha Downing is back with her latest sneaky thriller set at a prestigious private school—complete with interfering parents, overeager students, and one teacher who just wants to teach them all a lesson…

Teddy Crutcher has won Teacher of the Year at the prestigious Belmont Academy, home to the best and brightest.

He says his wife couldn’t be more proud—though no one has seen her in a while.

Teddy really can’t be bothered with a few mysterious deaths on campus that’re looking more and more like murder or with the student digging a little too deep into Teddy’s personal life. His main focus is pushing these kids to their full academic potential.

All he wants is for his colleagues—and the endlessly meddlesome parents—to stay out of his way. If not, well, they’ll get what they deserve.

It’s really too bad that sometimes excellence can come at such a high cost.

3,5 This was quite fun to read, and definitely an entertaining audiobook to listen to while driving to and from work. However, there was nothing that really stood out to me. There weren't any special moments/thrilling aspects that really stuck with me. It was fun while it lasted though!

Just okay for me - it was pretty slow for the most part and I there weren’t really any big twists in it for me. But if you’re looking for a slower mystery instead of a thriller you‘ll probably enjoy the writing and the story.

I barely even give books 3 stars, but this one bored the fuck out of me so 1 star.

This would've been 4 stars if I never read the ending. I wanted more action but it was very...bleh.

1

Incredibly repetitive, the characters are flat, there's basically no tension or mystery, the clues people discover in their investigation are pretty far fetched even if accurate and have I mentioned that it's repetitive?

4

This was really entertaining in a "Omg that's horrible tell me more" kind if way. The characters were entertaining because they were easy to hate and did absolute wild stuff to justify their situation. Overall it was very over the top and dramatic which made it a very fun read.
