Description

“Charlie is a vibrant writer with an excellent voice and great world building.” ―Brandon Sanderson, author of Mistborn and The Way of Kings
Seventeen-year-old Smitha’s wealth, status, and beauty make her the envy of her town―until she rejects a strange man’s marriage proposal and disastrous consequences follow. Smitha becomes cursed, and frost begins to encompass everything she touches. Banished to the hills, hunted by villagers, and chilled to the very core of her soul, she finds companionship with Death, who longs to coax her into his isolated world. But Smitha’s desire for life proves stronger than despair, and a newfound purpose gives her hope. Will regrets over the past and an unexpected desire for a man she cannot touch be enough to warm Smitha’s heart, or will Death forever still it?

"I kissed him, and I stayed warm." If I were her, I would have taken Death's offer a long time ago.

This story has been a quick read, but only because I was (and still am) lying in bed sick. I read every word of it, skipped nothing. I loved Smitha. Hated and wanted to kill Mordan myself. I would have taken Sadriels offer, and at some point I actually thought he would be Smitha's saviour. Then I thought Imad would be the person to undo Smitha's cyrse, but then thought he would actually also just leave her devastated and alone. Lo, I had no expectations at all. I guess what this goes to tell was that I was not able to predict what was going to happen. Even the last part, Smitha being afraid that her selfishness would bring the curse back. It was a good book to read.
