Description

She’s ready to do whatever it takes to get the job of her dreams, even if it means working with a pile of adorably unruly pups—and the office grump—in this charming contemporary rom-com perfect for fans of Rachel Lynn Solomon and Sarah Adams.

Intern Holly King knows there are pros and cons to everything, including competing in her nonprofit’s big fundraising competition.

The Pros: - Winning means a full-time job at the new office in Scotland - Scotland is thousands of miles away from her toxic ex-boyfriend - Her pitch includes PUPPIES! Lots of ‘em!
The only con? Working with Jonathan Summers. But if Holly wants her calendar of hot, outdoorsy guys and their dogs to win against everyone else’s fundraising ideas, she’ll need Jonathan’s undeniable talent as a photographer ... even if he is a buzzkill.

When their collaboration accidentally gets off to a steamy start, Holly vows she won’t be distracted again. But as they scramble to shoot a year’s worth of hunks and pups in just a couple of weeks, the spark between Holly and Jonathan can’t be ignored.

With Holly’s career dreams finally coming into focus, whatever’s developing with Jonathan makes her wonder—could she be missing the bigger picture?

I need a dog now

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review. Finding Mr. July is a romantic, slightly angsty story about growth, letting go of the past, and learning to communicate honestly. I was drawn in right from the start — Holly’s desperation to land this job and Jonathan’s emotional walls created an immediate sense of tension and depth that kept me invested. I really liked the dynamic between Holly and Jonathan. Their honesty with each other felt refreshing, and the relationship developed at a believable pace. The story focuses mainly on the two of them, with only a few supporting characters (and some memorable dogs!) playing smaller roles. The audiobook narration by Lauren Ezzo was excellent. Her clear, expressive voice and precise enunciation brought the story to life and made the characters more vivid. I genuinely believe the narration added a lot to my overall enjoyment of the book. While Finding Mr. July doesn’t necessarily stand out as something completely unique in the genre, it’s still a heartfelt, well-paced romance with an engaging story and a strong emotional core. ⭐ 3.5 stars — A solid, enjoyable listen for anyone who loves character-driven contemporary romance with a touch of angst and emotional growth.
