I didn’t dislike Fighting for Us, but I also didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped I would. The beginning was actually pretty good, and I liked both Asher and Grace as characters. Since the first book felt more like a longer prologue to their story, I was excited to finally dive deeper into their relationship and see where everything would go. Unfortunately, somewhere in the middle, I felt like the story was just going and going without really getting anywhere. Asher was incredibly stubborn when it came to getting help and accepting that he deserved love and support from Grace. At the same time, Grace was so focused on being there for him that she wasn’t really dealing with her own demons and past trauma. After a while, it started to feel repetitive, and I found myself wishing the story had been a bit shorter and more focused. The ending was sweet, and I liked where everything ended up, but because the middle dragged for me, the emotional payoff didn’t hit as hard as I wanted it to. Overall, it was an okay read with characters I liked, but the pacing kept me from fully connecting with the story.
3.5⭐️1.5🌶️ Ich habe wirklich mit Grace und Asher mitgefühlt. Ihre Geschichte hatte herzzerreißende Aspekte. Und wie üblich bei Claires Geschichten hatte ich das Gefühl, dass dies eine echte Lebensgeschichte sein könnte. Außerdem – wie verdorben ist bitte das Justizsystem? Ich mochte Graces Loyalität und ihren Glauben an die Liebe. Ich liebte Gram und ihre Weisheit. Asher ging mir hin und wieder auf die Nerven, aber wie sauer kann man auf einen grummeligen, tätowierten Ex-Häftling sein? (Irgendwas stimmt eindeutig nicht mit mir…) Ihr Kampf mit den Ereignissen der Vergangenheit wirkte real, und ich bin froh, dass CK uns zeigen konnte, dass Liebe eine Menge Traumata überwinden kann. Auch wenn dies nicht mein Lieblingsbuch von CK sein wird, bin ich neugierig auf die Bailey-Brüder. Ich freue mich darauf, mehr über die restlichen Charaktere und ihre Dynamik zu lesen. Es war auch schön, einen kleinen Einblick in die Miles-Familie zu bekommen.
