😀 Ah, ein Heinlein. Er war sicherlich einer der umstrittensten Science-Fiction-Literaten seiner Zeit und genau jene Zeit nagt natürlich auch heftig an seinem Werk. Dafür kann er nichts, aber bei der Lektüre muss man das natürlich immer im Hinterkopf behalten.
In "Doppelstern" bekommt der inzwischen notorisch erfolglos Lawrence Smith einen attraktiven Job angeboten: Er muss das Double für eine Person spielen. Doch auf dem Weg zu seinem Einsatzort Mars erfährt er, dass er einen der mächtigsten Politiker des Sonnensystems im kommenden Wahlkampf darstellen soll. Zentrales Thema bei der Wahl: Sollen die einheimischen Marsianer in den "erlauchten" Kreis des irdischen Imperiums aufgenommen werden. Neben der (leider immer noch aktuellen) politischen Note stellt vor allem die in der Ich-Form erzählende Person Smiths eine der besten und lebhaftesten Beschreibungen eines Charakters in Heinleins Werk dar. 📚 Bibliographisches: Robert A. Mein erster Heinlein, aber definitiv nicht mein letzter. Das Buch hat mich von Beginn an in seinen Bann gezogen und liess mich bis zum Schluss nicht mehr los. Man merkt dem Text sein Alter eindeutig an, aber ich finde, genau das macht den Charme der klassischen Sci-Fi aus. Wie haben sich die Menschen in den 50ern das Leben im 21. Jahrhundert vorgestellt? Definitiv nicht papierlos, zumindest nicht bei Heinlein. Die Szenen mit den Marsmenschen fand ich auch äusserst spannend und eindrucksvoll.
