Ein guter & mal etwas anderer Einstieg in die Philosophie
Auf dieses Buch bin ich zufällig gestoßen, es lag in einem öffentlichen kostenlosen Bücherregal. Als ich es gesehen hatte, wusste ich direkt, das muss ich mitnehmen. Und es hatte mich auch nicht enttäuscht! Kurz gefasst: es war sehr informativ, ein guter Einstieg in die Themen der Philosophie, besonders Richtung Moral und Ethik & ich konnte vieles für mich herausnehmen. Ich glaube so viele Stellen, wie in diesem Buch habe ich noch nie rausgeschrieben. Dennoch hatte ich hier und da das Gefühl, dass das ein oder andere doch etwas untergegangen ist. Eigentlich müsste man es mehrmals lesen, damit man alles aufnehmen kann. Besonders die Analyse über die Charakter der Serie hatte mir sehr gut gefallen. Den ein oder anderen Charakter konnte ich auch aus einer anderen Perspektive sehen, die ich vorher nicht hatte. Aber zu guter Letzt, ich kann es nur empfehlen, ich hatte es mit Begeisterung gelesen! Deswegen ganz klare 5 Sterne

Auf dieses Buch bin ich zufällig gestoßen, es lag in einem öffentlichen kostenlosen Bücherregal. Als ich es gesehen hatte, wusste ich direkt, das muss ich mitnehmen. Und es hatte mich auch nicht enttäuscht! Kurz gefasst: es war sehr informativ, ein guter Einstieg in die Themen der Philosophie, besonders Richtung Moral und Ethik & ich konnte vieles für mich herausnehmen. Ich glaube so viele Stellen, wie in diesem Buch habe ich noch nie rausgeschrieben. Dennoch hatte ich hier und da das Gefühl, dass das ein oder andere doch etwas untergegangen ist. Eigentlich müsste man es mehrmals lesen, damit man alles aufnehmen kann. Besonders die Analyse über die Charakter der Serie hatte mir sehr gut gefallen. Den ein oder anderen Charakter konnte ich auch aus einer anderen Perspektive sehen, die ich vorher nicht hatte. Aber zu guter Letzt, ich kann es nur empfehlen, ich hatte es mit Begeisterung gelesen! Since this book consists of eleven essays by eleven different authors, it's kind of hard to rate as a whole. Most of the essays are easy to understand, even if you're not a philosophy expert. Two or three (especially in the third part of the book) were pretty hard to get through - if you, like me, have no more than basic knowledge of marxism and people like Roland Barthes -, but for the most part, I felt greatly entertained and educated reading this. Heck, I felt reeeally smug reading this book in public. As for the Simpsons, you need to have at least a basic understanding of who's who in Springfield. The characters mentioned are (for the most part) not further explained, so the authors rely on their readers having watched pretty much all of the series (that is, until 2001, when this book was first published). I can't call myself a die-hard fan of The Simpsons, I believe I haven't even watched half of the episodes that exist, but since this show is such a huge part of pop culture and "internet humour" I got most of the references and remembered the characters in the given context. My favourite essays were those on Lisa and Bart and one about why Mr. Burns can never be happy. Lisa has always been my favourite character on the show and reading about her struggles and melancholy both warmed and broke my heart. I found it kind of unnecessary to throw Harry Potter in there - especially comparing him to Bart (Whoever calls Harry a prig ["Musterknabe"], has clearly not read the HP books. Are you kidding me?) To conclude, I learned a lot from this book and, more importantly, gained a new sense of appreciation for the ingenuity behind The Simpsons. Also, I really want to binge-watch the whole series now.
