About the book
This classic, bilingual fairy tale (in German and English) from the collection of the Brothers Grimm was published in 1857. It is one of the fairytales of the "MärchenRunde" (fairytale round) of NaLivre Verlag, in which "round" objects (such as peas, oranges or a golden ball) play a decisive role.
Whoever thinks of the frog king's fairy tale, does not yet know the many different versions of this fairy tale. But the Grimm brothers changed it several times. Here the version from the collection of 1857 was selected, with the appropriate translation into the English language (by Margaret Hunt).
The English text blocks are opposed to the German text blocks - so it is easy to record the text of the foreign language in small doses. Bilingually, it is a wonderful fairy tale book for all English - and / or German - speaking children and adults.
Following the fairy tale, the reader learns a great deal about the Brothers Grimm, their lives and why they came up with the idea to write down fairy tales. The fairy tale "The frog king" has been analyzed and interpreted by different parties. The symbols and pictures used in the fairy tale are explained by Aurora von Grünhaar and concluded with the interpretation of the fairy tale by the psychoanalyst and child psychologist Bruno Bettelheim.
Aurora von Grünhaar's illustrations bring us back to the times of knights, castles and forests - and connect this time with today's - in a magically unobtrusive, subtle way.
