When a misunderstanding leads to the queer club at their school thinking Katie and Sarah are dating, a spontaneus decision leads to them joining the club and pretending they actually are a couple and "come out" to the entire school. Of course we all know how fake dating always ends, and I think this book had just the right characters and potential to go into a different direction, but as the story itself points out on multiple occasions, sometimes we just need a story with a happy ending, preferably one that doesn't involve total heartbreak first, and that's what this trope is ultimately for. It's also a quick and entertaining read and I felt like Katie, the main and POV character was likeable and pretty relatable, though I wished we'd gotten to know Sarah (and some of the supporting characters) a bit better.
