Description

When Sybella arrived at the doorstep of St Mortain half mad with grief and despair, the convent was only too happy to offer her refuge - but at a price. The sisters of this convent serve Death, and with Sybella naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, she could become one of their most dangerous weapons yet. But her assassin's skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to the life that nearly drove her mad. Her father’s rage and brutality is terrifying, and her brother’s love is equally monstrous. But when Sybella discovers an unexpected ally she discovers that a daughter of Death may find something other than vengeance to live for . . . Action, courtly intrigue, supernatural and a beautifully written romance to bewitch fans of Sarah J. Maas and Holly Black.

This is LaFevers' fourth book I read as well as the fourth book I read in this universe and I can't repeat enough how much in love I am with both her writing style and the world-building of the universe. I never thought political intrigue and historical assassin spies would be things that interest me, but I cannot help but be drawn into every single one of these books. Dark Triumph is no exception. I really want to live in Sybella's head. Having read Dark Triumph, as well as her further adventures in [b:Courting Darkness|37569347|Courting Darkness (Courting Darkness Duology, #1)|Robin LaFevers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1525277518l/37569347._SY75_.jpg|51154009] and [b:Igniting Darkness|30622326|Igniting Darkness (Courting Darkness Duology, #2)|Robin LaFevers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1567002339l/30622326._SY75_.jpg|51154018], I still have not enough of reading about Sybella, her sisters, Tephanie and beast. I am missing Ismae from [b:Grave Mercy|9565548|Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1)|Robin LaFevers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320269319l/9565548._SX50_.jpg|14452295] a little, even though she does appear, I would have loved for her to appear more, even though I do understand how Sybella's story took her far away from any place Ismae would be at. I am very sad that [b:Mortal Heart|20522640|Mortal Heart (His Fair Assassin, #3)|Robin LaFevers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1392675344l/20522640._SX50_.jpg|14836642] will be the last book of this series I can read, before I have to start rereading them in order to get back into this world LaFevers constructed, but this series definitely wedged itself into the list of my favorite books.
